Relative strength versus peers

How an asset's 30-day return is ranked against its own asset class.

Relative strength asks whether an asset is beating the others, not whether it is going up. In a rising market almost everything is up, so what matters is which assets are leading.

Pulse ranks each asset's 30-day return against every other asset in its class on the same day: crypto against crypto, stocks against stocks and metals against metals. The best performer gets the full 15 points and the worst gets zero.

Leaders tend to stay leaders for a while, which is why this is part of the score. It also stops a weak asset from getting a high score just because the whole class is rallying.

Frequently asked questions

Why compare within a class?

Crypto moves several times as much as metals, so comparing across classes would always favor crypto. Ranking inside the class keeps the comparison fair.

What if an asset only just listed?

Assets need at least 30 days of history to receive a relative strength reading.
